Music Can brings music into the heart of meaningful care

We recognise there is an urgent need to reimagine health and social care. Starting with dementia, we aim to make music part of personalised and meaningful care to improve the health and wellbeing of thousands

"Want to learn about what Mum and I can do with music, so that we can enjoy moments together"
Frances, Relative & Informal Carer
"Music has a real impact on the residents, mentally and physically. It makes them feel more active. It helps to give staff something to look forward to and makes us feel happy in the workplace"
Gabriel, Professional Carer
"Great to have a clear starting point to learn about organisations, events and where to get music care services. Education on the benefits is useful so carers can decide which activities could work best"

Who we are

The Team

Music Can has been spearheaded by Universal Music UK and developed by Boston Consulting Group, working in partnership with people with lived experience of dementia, practitioners and experts. The creation of the website was led by Grace Meadows and David Rowe for Universal Music UK, and the site will be managed by The National Academy for Social Prescribing.

"The Power of Music report called for a re-imagining of health and social care. Music Can is part of how we do that and help provide more personalised, meaningful care for those living with long term conditions, such as dementia, to lead the best possible quality of life

"Music isn’t an add-on or nicety, it should be at the heart of good quality care and Music Can is here to help all those providing care to feel confident and empowered to use music as part of the vital care they provide. We can all make musical care happen and Music Can is here to support you"

Grace Meadows, Music Can

"We all know that music can create joy, bring people together and help us to live in the moment. But music’s potential to alleviate symptoms and help us re-connect is not nearly as well understood

"Music Can is here to help you discover how to use Music in a way that makes things that bit better for you and those around you"
